Nail Clubbing
Nail clubbing, also known as digital clubbing or Hippocratic fingers, is a condition where the tips of the fingers or toes enlarge and the nails curve around the fingertips. It’s often associated with underlying medical conditions such as respiratory or cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, liver cirrhosis, and certain cancers. The exact cause of nail clubbing is not fully understood, but it’s thought to be related to decreased oxygen levels in the blood. Diagnosis typically involves physical examination and may require further investigations like imaging or blood tests. Treatment focuses on managing the underlying condition, as there’s no specific therapy for nail clubbing itself.

Nail Fungus
Nail fungus, or onychomycosis, is a common fungal infection that affects the nails, typically the toenails. It often begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of the nail and can cause thickening, discoloration, and crumbling of the nail. Fungi thrive in warm, moist environments, making sweaty shoes and public showers common sources of infection. Treatment options include topical antifungal medications, oral antifungal drugs, and in severe cases, surgical removal of the nail. Prevention involves keeping feet clean and dry, wearing breathable shoes and socks, and avoiding sharing nail clippers or footwear.
